THE TRADES CHAMBER
The Cathedral building is one of the most expensive Gothic European of its kind and kept manu foreign stone-cutters busy for sixty years - not just with the production of stone blocks but also working on gargoyles such as the one to be seen on the left, "crochets" like the one in the middle, and pinnacles which can be seen in their smallest form on the right. They used instruments similar to those displayed on the upper step and were used as models for one that is on a "crochet" on the lower step where the design lines can still be appreciated.
Carpenters that participated left several wedges such as those of the XV Century that surround a XVI Century instrument of their craft.
The Triana potters, many of whom still had Muslem names, contributed green glazed tile-drains and conduits to the drainage piping (such as on the lower step) but in particular, an enormous quantity of mid-XV Century pots: these were the "oven rejects" that were used as "alcatifas" (filing) for the stone vaults where they appear piled up and joined with lime mortar. There is a remarkable large vessel with Arabic lettering and two pitchers whose handles have a Giralda imprinted on them as a control mark.
