Catedral de Santa María de la Sede - SEVILLA (ANDALUCÍA)

THE MOSQUE CHAMBER This is the first chamber that can be visited and the second of the Tower and contains many elements related to the founding stage of the Islamic building during the years 1172 AD (567th year of the Hijrah) and 1198 (594th year of the Hijrah). A plan of the Mosque's floor plan can actually be seen, overlapping the Cathedral’s present one, as well as the brass door knockers - the genuine "Almohades" of the Puerta del Perdón (Door of Pardon) which are of exceptionally high quality: they are the loveliest and most modern ones in the Mosque and standing amongst them are two simple and somewhat older oil lamps which were found in the building's foundations during some recent archaeological excavations. In the right we can see a revolving model of the Giralda divided into three panel: the Almohade when it was inaugurated on 10th March 1198, the Christian period was at the time of its greatest growth - by the architect Hernán Ruiz in 1568, and finally a conventional picture of the Giralda form a memorable year of the city - 1992.
