The Basque txalaparta

The txalaparta is a traditional percussion instrument from the Basque Country. Generally consists of two brackets (baskets, chairs, benches, etc.) on these some insulating material (corn leaf, old sacks wrapped, dry grass, etc.) and on a plank that is hit with four poles (two each txalapartari). This traditional percussion instrument source was used in a small part of the Basque country, particularly in the villages and around Urumea river basin. The txalaparta was closely linked to the work of cider making. It has always been associated with its use and the rural way of life.
